Education Grants Program

Background

In  2015 the Audubon Society of Kalamazoo Board decided to start an Education Grants program with money received from a bequest. With that in mind, a fund was established at the Kalamazoo Community Foundation with the bequest money. A target area of public schools was designated, grade levels were chosen, guidelines for applicants were developed, as was an application form. Guidelines and application form for the 2022-2023 school year are attached below.

Education Grants Policy for the 2022-2023 School Year

Target Area:

  • The grants are to benefit children residing in areas serviced by the following Michigan school districts: Climax/Scotts, Comstock, Galesburg/Augusta, Gull Lake, Kalamazoo, Mattawan, Otsego, Parchment, Plainwell, Portage, Schoolcraft, Vicksburg.

Target Schools:

  • Public elementary and middle schools in the above-mentioned school districts will receive direct communications from ASK regarding the grant opportunity.
  • While not specifically targeting private or non-traditional educational entities located in the above school districts, applications from these will be considered based on the same criteria as those from public elementary and middle schools. They must have 501(c)3 status and provide proof thereof.
