Saturday, April 25, 8:30 AM, Asylum Lake Preserve, Leaders: Donna Keller (269-207-2874) and Mike Cook
Meet at the Drake Road entrance to the preserve at 8:30 AM.
We will walk the preserve for approximately two hours in search of spring migrants as well as residents. The varied habitats including open fields, woods edges, and open water should allow us to see a variety of birds including Brown Thrasher, Eastern Bluebird, Tree Swallow, Yellow Warbler, Common Yellowthroat, Killdeer, and a variety of woodpeckers. Also possible are Winter Wren, Field Sparrow, Palm Warbler, and we might even hear a Sora. Dress for the weather, and plan for the open field to be colder if it’s windy. We will walk 1.5 to 2 miles on well-worn paths with mild, but not steep, grades.
