From Kalamazoo to Paradise, from Paradise to (nearly) Hell, fellow Audubon Society of Kalamazoo member Will Keller traversed our fair state chasing both birds and a Michigan Big Year goal. During our February member meeting, hear about Will’s adventures tracking down and photographing the rare birds that found their way to Michigan in 2021. Did he surpass his goal of 310 birds? Tune in to find out!

Will Keller’s birding interest started early with membership in ASK’s Junior Audubon group (run jointly with the Kalamazoo Nature Center) at age 8. He completed his first Big Year in 2012 with help from many ASK members, including his mentor, Russ Schipper. A junior at Kalamazoo College, Will is double majoring in Philosophy and Biology (with a concentration in Environmental Studies). Will was recently hired by the Michigan Natural Features Inventory and will travel the state doing bird survey work this spring and summer.

Join us on Monday, February 28th at 7:30 PM via Zoom – https://us02web.zoom.us/j/84457657621.

The link to the meeting will also be emailed to the membership a few days prior to the meeting. If ASK does not have a current email address for you, please let us know at ask@kalamazooaudubon.org. We plan to record the meeting and make it available for later viewing.
