Upcoming  Field Trip: Dickey Birds at Wolf Lake Fish Hatchery
Meet at the hatchery parking lot at 8:30 AM. The hatchery is 6 miles west of US-131 on the southwest corner of M-43 and Hatchery Road. The parking lot is on Hatchery Road a tenth of a mile south of M-43.
While ducks are the more typical birds that we seek when visiting the hatchery, the grounds are also an excellent place to find a number of migrant songbirds. The grounds offer nice woodland edges and plenty of shrubs. Having a variety of options is beneficial for migrant birds to “fatten up” during their migration. Of course we’ll also check the ponds for something like Great Egrets, Green Herons, and maybe some teal. This will be about a 2 hour and 2 mile walk.
