  • With 120 acres of heavily rolling forest and meadows, one mile of frontage on the Black River, and some of the highest quality wetlands in Van Buren County, Black River Preserve in western Van Buren County offers excellent birding! Please join SWMLC’s Stewardship Specialist, Mitch Lettow, and members of Audubon Society of Kalamazoo for a wild bird search. During this mid-season ramble, we expect to see early-wave warblers, thrushes galore, and maybe a red-shouldered hawk. Or even a salmon (one was recently spotted in the river)!
