Meet at the commuter parking lot on the northwest corner of
I-94 and Oakland Drive in Portage for carpooling (we will
leave promptly at 7:30 AM), or at the Equestrian trailhead
within the recreation area at 8:00 AM.
We will hike a mile or two in search of some interesting
flycatcher, vireo, and warbler species, with some potential
for a rarity or two. Target species include Cerulean, Hooded,
and Blue-winged warblers; Ovenbird; Acadian, Great-
Crested, and Willow flycatchers; and Yellow-throated
Vireo. We will be birding by ear to some degree, so a
refresher on the songs of these species would be good
preparation. Insect repellent and sunscreen might be useful.
We should be back by around noon.
