Meet in the parking lot at 1614 West Osterhout Avenue, which is just east of Oakland Drive in Portage. (The parking lot is marked by a blue and white sign.) Eliason is the newest in the Portage park system and is still under development. It includes a large segment of Bishop’s Bog, although access to that portion of the bog has yet to be developed.
We’ll walk a total of 3 to 3-1/2 miles on a paved trail through varied woodland habitat, looking for early migrants and lingering residents, and returning on the same trail. We should be back by 11:30 AM. There are no restrooms available on site, so plan accordingly. There is a convenience store on the north side of the Oakland Drive/Shaver Road intersection.
