Meet at 7:00 AM if carpooling. If you want to stay for the duration of the trip, we will carpool from the Wolf Lake Fish Hatchery parking lot. The hatchery is six miles west of US-131 on the southwest corner of M-43 and Fish Hatchery Road. The parking lot is on Fish Hatchery Road a tenth of a mile to the south of M-43. Or if you choose, you can meet us at the north pier at about 7:45 AM. If it’s too foul to go out on the north pier, we’ll watch from the beach or the south pier.
Some of the species we might see are Bonaparte’s Gull, or maybe a Little or Franklin’s; Forster’s, Common, and Caspian Terns; and maybe a shorebird or two. If you have a spotting scope, be sure to bring it. If you don’t, come anyway; many birds can be seen with binoculars and there will be a scope to share. Dress for the weather; a hat and sunscreen might be a good idea. We should be back by about 11:00. Also, don’t “tank up” on liquids, as there are no facilities on the pier.
