Meet on Commerce Lane on the northwest corner of Riverview Drive and Mosel at the south end of Parchment. There are parking spaces on Commerce and in the parking lot of the Sav-A-Lot store.

We’ll walk west a bit on Mosel to get to the trail, and then take an easy walk north on this lovely section of trail which is often close to the Kalamazoo River. The trail goes through brushy areas, and this with the river makes it interesting habitat. Warblers are likely to have started showing up and we hope for Blue-winged, Nashville, Yellow, Yellow-rumped, Palm, Common Yellowthroat, and Black-and-white. Both Ruby-crowned and Golden-crowned Kinglets and Rose-breasted Grosbeaks will likely have returned to our area. There are resident woodpeckers helped by the many ash trees dead or dying due to the emerald ash borer, and we usually get at least a glimpse of a Pileated Woodpecker.

We’ll go about two miles round trip and be back to Parchment about 11:00.
