Meet at the Southwest Michigan Land Conservancy (SWMLC)
office parking lot in front of the pole barn (8395 East Main,
Galesburg, Michigan), which is 3.25 miles east of Sprinkle Road.
We will walk the preserve trails in search of birds that take
advantage of the Chipman Preserve’s rich fruit resources and
habitat variety. There is a good chance of finding overwintering
flocks of cedar waxwings, bluebirds, and robins. We will also
visit a variety of habitats to see if we can find winter migrants
like Pine Siskins and Common Redpolls among the flocks of
juncos and tree sparrows. We will finish up the walk by checking
the bird feeders with a cup of hot cocoa in the warmth of the
SWMLC office.
