Are we ready for the Thanksgiving turkey and the slow- approaching of Old Man Winter? To ease us out of autumn and our Thanksgiving feast-induced lethargy, let’s make a point to attend our monthly meeting on November 25! This month we will take a virtual trip to yet another warm place on the planet teeming with bird life and wildlife via a presentation entitled “Birding and Wildlife of India” by ASK’s very own Dr. Sudhir K. Reddy.
India not only boasts of being the last country in the world where both the tiger and the lion are found in the wild, but the country has strong roots for nature conservation deeply embedded in its spirituality. Learn how age-old traditions of religion and culture protect the rich flora, fauna, and overall biodiversity of India from challenges faced by vast economic growth, specifically population growth and industrialization.
Sudhir has been a member of ASK for nearly a decade, both during his scientific tenure at Pfizer Animal Health and Zoetis, and now in his retirement. As a veterinarian from India with advanced degrees in microbiology and immunology from universities of Saskatchewan and Montreal in Canada, working for four different animal health companies in Minnesota, Georgia, Iowa, and Michigan, he has been interested in nature conservation, wildlife photography, and birdwatching for more than 30 years.
In his retirement, Sudhir is taking the opportunity to travel to his homeland, India, regularly. His presentation will be a bird’s eye view on wildlife with his own photography and others’, from backyards to field trips, as well as wilderness safaris in India.
We hope you’ll join us on Monday, November 25, at People’s Church, 1758 North 10th Street, Kalamazoo. Our program starts at 7:30 PM and is preceded by a social time with light refreshments at 7:00 PM. Guests and the general public are encouraged to attend. Handicap parking and access is at either the front or rear entrance of the building. Please remember to bring your own coffee mug to reduce our dishwashing.
