Meet at Wolf Lake Fish Hatchery outside the Visitors’ Center. The hatchery is six miles west of US-131 on the southwest corner of M-43 and Fish Hatchery Drive. The parking lot is on Fish Hatchery Drive a tenth of a mile to the south of M-43.
This will be a compact version of The Big Sit. The object will be to count as many species as we see or hear from within a 17-foot circle that is centered on the observation deck on the south side of the main pond at the Hatchery. It is fun to watch the Hatchery wildlife come awake in the morning and come home to roost in the evening. You might want to bring binoculars, a field guide, and spotting scope if you have one. One scope will be available for sharing. There is a bench on the deck, although it may be wet from condensation or rain. Dress for the weather.
