Viewing Peregrine Falcons in Downtown Kalamazoo

Meet on the top floor of the Kalamazoo Mall Parking Ramp #3. Enter the ramp from Portage Road, just south of Michigan Avenue.

Peregrine Falcons have nested in downtown Kalamazoo the past four years. Join Jim on the top floor of the Kalamazoo Mall Parking Ramp to scan the skies for America’s fastest falcon. To date the pair has not successfully hatched offspring, but maybe this will be the year. If nestlings are being tended to, this May trip might allow observers to see views of the birds flying over the Kalamazoo skyline, perched on high buildings, with possible returns to a nest site.

Parking fees are based on visit duration. Binoculars recommended. A spotting scope will be available for participants. If it’s a sunny day, it can be bright on the top deck of the parking ramp with no shade, so bring a hat or sunglasses if desired.
