Events Single Title Field Trip - Lakeshore Migrant Watch - Tiscornia Park, St. Joseph

October 25, 2025

Leaders: Kent Martin (256) 751-3358, Susan Creager (269) 716-7988

We will return to Tiscornia Park again this year to look for shorebirds, ducks, gulls, and late migrants. This is a lovely 16-acre beach on Lake Michigan with small rolling sand dunes, a pier, and a lighthouse. We will scan the lake for migrant activity and possibly walk a bit of the beach if we need to get in closer range. Ducks should be on the move, and rarities can show up this time of year. Sometimes an owl crosses the lake from Wisconsin, so we might look for a roosting bird in the evergreens.

Meet us at the Park & Ride at the corner of Oakland Drive and I-94 at 8:00am to caravan, or at Tiscornia Park, St. Joseph, MI, at 9:15am. Bring spotting scopes if you have them, and an extra layer or two of clothing. We will stop afterward at Caffe Tosi, 516 Pleasant St, St Joseph, for a warm-up.
