Sue Creager and Kent Martin will be leading a field trip at Brown Sanctuary near Benton Harbor. It has a variety of habitats and follows the Paw Paw River as it meanders toward Lake Michigan. We will have opportunities to see local and migrating birds including Prothonotary Warbler, Sora, cuckoos, vireos, shorebirds, and many other warblers. Terrain is hilly. There is an overlook where scopes are helpful. We will meet at the Brown Sanctuary parking lot at 9:30 AM. Carpooling will not be offered.

Brown Sanctuary / 1701-1791 Wood Street, Benton Harbor, MI 49022
Take I-94 west to exit 34, take the ramp on the right to I-196. Then take exit 1 to Red Arrow Highway. At Red Arrow take a left turn. Take Red Arrow to a slight right onto East Euclid Avenue, then a right hand turn on Wood Street. Look for the Brown Sanctuary parking lot sign on the right.
It is about a 45-minute drive from Kalamazoo. Consider wearing waterproof shoes or boots, bring bug spray, and dress according to the weather.
