Events Single Title Urban Birding at Upjohn and Axtell Creek Parks
–
October 14, 2023
Please meet at the Nicholas Kik Pool parking lot, 1018 Walter Street, Kalamazoo at 8:30 AM. We will walk 2 to 2-1/2 miles, mostly on paved trails and sidewalks, in search of both migrant and local bird activity.
We’ll be challenged to find bird activity in a typical urban setting punctuated by small water features and green spaces, with an eye to the sky for the city’s more famous falcon and osprey residents. Participants who wish may drive from Upjohn to Axtell Creek, parking between ponds at 234-344 Forest Street. Extra binoculars will be available for those who need them.
The Walnut & Park Cafe is nearby (322 West Walnut Street) for anyone interested in a post-trip hot coffee and review session.
