ASK POLICY ON BACKYARD BIRD FEEDING AND WINDOW COLLISION MITIGATION

By Donna Keller – To reduce bird mortality, ASK recommends maintaining bird feeding stations only where window collision mitigation strategies are in place. Such strategies include, but are not limited to, netting or screens on exteriors of windows or exterior application of tempera paint or film designed to mitigate collisions, ideally with patterns 2 inches apart. Decals spaced more than two inches apart do not adequately reduce window collisions. There are many DIY products and services available. Click here for more information.
