Events Single Title Field Trip - Open Country Birding!

December 14, 2025

🦉Explore open country areas of Kalamazoo County for winter visitors and resident birds. We’ll be looking for Horned Larks, Snow Buntings, Rough-legged Hawks, and some of the less common seed-eaters and raptors. Redpolls are possible this year, and there could be an owl sighting at the end of the day for hardy birders.

🚗Meet at the Park ‘n Ride lot on Angling Road south off of Centre Avenue, next to highway US-131, to join our caravan. This will be a driving tour with occasional stops to scan or use a spotting scope. Bring extra layers of clothing and warm boots – it’s almost always windy and cold! Bring spotting scopes if you have one. A thermos of your favorite hot drink is also a great idea.
